The Vice President of Project Direction is a key leadership position within atai Life Sciences that reports to the Chief Medical Officer. This leader will be instrumental in introducing project direction infrastructure and good project management principles to the entire R&D organization. This person will also contribute to shaping the product development strategy and the organizational design to grow atai to become a leader in the development of new medicines and to build a Project Direction team over time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of project governance, project management, risk management, contingency planning and reporting of financial and other resource utilization. 
  • Work cross-functionally with partners at all levels of the organization to fulfil atai’s goals.
  • Prepare and manage integrated development plans for the atai pipeline.
  • Actively contribute to the development of pipeline strategy and individual global product strategies:
  • Build the management infrastructure to conduct project reviews and ensure that fitness for purpose is ensured.
  • Support the team’s efforts to identify, communicate, and resolve interdependencies, risks, and issues to meet business objectives in a key business area that spans many products/compounds and many development programs.
  • Lead and mentor one Junior Project Manager in Berlin, remotely

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Natural Science, Biopharma or related fields 
  • 10+ years of experience in project management 
  • Understanding of the drug development all elements process and their interactions: CMC, preclinical, and clinical activities
  • Ability to design, document and implement new processes
  • A strong track record in contributing to cross-functional teams in advancing projects 
  • You are highly empathetic with an outstanding ability to work multi-culturally 
  • You are eager to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment and make a difference in the treatment of mental health disorders.
