Position Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant should be an enthusiastic, focused, and organized person to play a critical role providing support to the accounting department of our growing and fast paced company. The role requires a solution focused person that works independently while providing an atmosphere of confidentiality and discretion. 

Position Duties:

  • Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files
  • Reviews transaction entries and confirms bookkeeping to correct accounts and classes
  • Reconciles accounts
  • Reviews and approves payroll
  • Create and maintain pay schedules including accrual entries
  • Assist in preparation of payments through bill.com
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports
  • Assist in maintaining & balancing an automated consolidation system by inputting and verifying data
  • Assist in schedule preparation for audit
  • Assist in selection and migration to new accounting software
  • Assist in selection and migration to new vendor management system
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives as requested
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed

General Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and collaborate with key players, internal and external staff
  • Check in regularly with supervisor and complete assignments by agreed deadline
  • Document processes and provide regular updates
  • Proactively seek methods of improvement, streamlining workflows and building efficiencies in individual work and project outcomes

 Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in finance and accounting with a preference for experience in clinical research or clinical trial or site management or health care related industry work
  • Experience with Quickbooks and other financial software (ex. Intact, Intuit etc)

Location:

This is a remote position from a suitable home office with a private and quite work area. Secure internet and reliable phone reception are required. This position requires frequent phone and internet meetings. Certain home office expense may be reimbursed. A work computer will be provided.

Hours:

Business hours are 9:00 AM  - 6:00 PM Monday - Friday PST. The exact schedule may be arranged upon hire. Occasional weekend hours may be required with advance arrangements.  

Compensation:

Salaried compensation commensurate with experience.  Full benefits package included.
