About PSFC:

Psychedelic Science Funders Collaborative (PSFC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is a funding collaborative created to support the exceptional scientists and organizations working on psychedelic clinical trials and to ensure psychedelic treatments reach all who can benefit. Emerging research indicates that psychedelics have the potential to be a breakthrough in treating PTSD, depression, addiction, and other conditions. PSFC was born in 2017 out of a realization that psychedelic medicine has the potential to make an enormous impact and has an achievable path to regulatory approval, but has been systemically underfunded. Since PSFC’s founding, we have grown into a community of many of the leading funders of psychedelic medicine supporting organizations at the cutting edge of psychedelic research with funding and expert support.

PSFC has funded several organizations at the forefront of the psychedelic field, and in 2020, we completed a $30 million fundraising campaign in partnership with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) to support the completion of phase 3 clinical trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. PSFC’s current areas of focus include supporting broad and equitable access to high-quality MDMA-assisted psychotherapy post-FDA approval, and supporting the implementation of Oregon’s Measure 109, which authorizes psilocybin therapy in the state, to ensure the program also provides broad and equitable access to high-quality care.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

PSFC has created working groups to bring together funders, experts, and practitioners to identify key funding needs for advancing the psychedelic field. Our first working groups, focused on delivery of care, will address the various aspects of bringing psychedelic treatment to patients, including therapist training, professional certifications, insurance reimbursement, and more. Under the direction of Greg Kearns, PSFC’s Director of Strategy and Working Groups, each working group will create an analysis of the sector, vet key organizations, and make funding recommendations to donors. A working group focused on the implementation of psilocybin-assisted therapy in Oregon is also under development.

The project associate position will report to Greg and work closely with him and other PSFC staff to support PSFC’s working groups. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Drafting meeting materials such as memos, reports, agendas, and presentations

  • Preparing the Director of Working Groups and Strategy and other working group participants for meetings, taking notes, and tracking action items for follow up

  • Coordinating written follow-ups and communications between working group meetings

  • Providing project management support for the administration of workgroups and coordinating project work plans in project management software

  • Coordinating working group information flow and document management

  • Documenting learnings from working group research and meetings and organizing findings and learnings in PSFC’s knowledge management system

  • Drafting periodic written reports on working group activities and milestones for communication to PSFC members and external stakeholders

  • Providing project support for PSFC’s Scientific Director and Director of Funder Engagement

  • Collaborating with other project associates and PSFC staff to share good practices for working groups and synchronize with other PSFC initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in a role with similar responsibilities

  • Domain experience in clinical care delivery, health care policy, mental health, medical research, philanthropy, or a similar field strongly preferred
