Freelance Journalist

Psychedelic Spotlight, the premier news platform for the emergent psychedelics industry, is seeking skilled business writers to join our growing team. 

As a contributing writer, you’ll support us with weekly news stories focused on the business in the space, stock market insights, and investment tips. The right person for this job is highly organized, creative, finding unique story ideas, and is a native English speaker. This is a remote, freelance position.

Essential Duties:

• Report and write articles as assigned, including news briefs and bylined articles in coordination with editors
• Report and write features in coordination with editors
• Exercise sound news judgment
• Conceive and develop story ideas based on keyword targets
• Establish contacts and develop beat coverage as assigned
• Attend desksides and (online) events to generate article ideas

Skills/Qualifications:

• Ability to produce clear, concise, and accurately written articles
• Experience with writing for web audiences
• Working knowledge of SEO and story promotion through social media platforms
• Able to conduct phone and in-person interviews 
• Able to convey complex issues clearly and accurately
• Able to work under strict deadlines
• Knowledge of AP style
• Able to post through content management system and commercial social networks
• Knowledge of investing and business writing a must, understanding or interest in psychedelics preferred
