We are a first-of-its-kind venture that is blending operational execution with strategic investing across all aspects of the psychedelics value chain — from basic research on botanical psychedelics and drug development to operation of world class health clinics focussed on psychedelics-assisted therapies.

 

About the role: 


We are currently looking for an experienced CFO, based out of our head office location in Toronto, Canada, to help execute our strategic growth plan. Working with and influencing both external and internal stakeholders, this role will be at the forefront of our organization’s fast-evolving financial strategy.

 

The successful candidate must be extremely well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations. Extensive experience in coordinating private financing arrangements and go-public transactions will be given preference. The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader, enjoys working hard and being continually challenged, can operate autonomously, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.


What you'll do: 


• Serve as a strategic thought partner and financial advisor to management on investment strategy, business execution, risk mitigation, and employee compensation.
• Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
• Lead and continuously evaluate organization’s fundraising plans and capital structure.
• Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization.
• Prepare, manage, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to company management and company stakeholders.
• Manage key financial ratios including liquidity ratios, break-even analysis, and burn rate monitoring.
• Continuously review and manage relationship with external auditors.
• Define and develop corporate tax strategy and ensure compliance with various tax authorities across all of company’s jurisdictions.
• Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
• Experience working with Board of Directors.


What you bring to the team: 


• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, life sciences, engineering; MBA preferred
• CPA, CA, or CFA preferred
• 5+ years’ accounting experience in a managerial position
• Background in health care and/or drug development an asset
• Experience with US and Canadian capital markets, public listing process
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Exceptional time management and ability to problem solve under pressure
• Knowledge of equity-based compensations structures and systems
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Start-up experience a plus
